For those in the capital region, the City of Tallahassee and the State of Florida are both open for business as usual on Tuesday. Florida State University and what Leon Co. schools are still in operation for summer school will be open as well, and orientation programs at FSU will be running as scheduled.

All classes will be canceled and the campus will be closed at the University of Florida Tuesday, June 13, because of Tropical Storm Alberto. Only essential personnel should report for work.

Preview, which was scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday, has been canceled. Anyone who was scheduled to participate will receive an e-mail regarding alternate plans.

All sports camp activities for Tuesday have been canceled as well, but athletes may stay in campus housing, where they will be supervised and food vendors will remain open.

University officials anticipate a return to normal class and business schedules on Wednesday, June 14.

Students, faculty and staff should monitor the UF Web site, www.ufl.edu, and local news media for all official announcements, including re-opening. Additional information is available at 1-866-UF FACTS.

Employees with any questions regarding their specific work circumstances and schedules should consult with their supervisors.

University officials will continue to monitor local and regional weather conditions.

Hey All -

Colleen - thanks for this thread!

Anyone hear anything about Hillsborough County Community College, or USF? There isn't anything on either of their websites, or anywhere else that I have been able to find. To me, that means classes will meet as scheduled - I'm just wondering if anyone has heard otherwise.

Thanks!

From USF's homepage (http://www.usf.edu/index.asp):

USF is committed to the safety of our students, faculty and staff. We are in constant communications with local and state agencies and we are monitoring the track of Tropical Storm Alberto. Currently there are no plans to cancel classes or activities on any of the USF campuses. Please keep monitoring the web and the USF information line (800-992-4231) for changes or any updated information.
