Hurricane in the Quebec Province ?
      #80432 - Sun Jul 13 2008 09:49 AM

Hi All ! ( french speaker here from Montreal so i'll do my best to use a good english )
I have a question for y'all !
Does an hurricane can hit the Quebec Province ( and Newfoundland ) ?
And if yes , does this hurricane COULD ONLY hit the east coast of Quebec or this hurricane could hit the center ( Like the city of Montreal )
Here's a map to give you an idea where Montreal is if you dont already know:

Even if there's only a 0,001% chance , is it possible a Category 2 or 3 Hurricane hit Montreal ?

Thank you

Actually, the infamous Long Island express made its way all the way to Montreal still at category one strength before dissipating.

Hurricanes have hit the Canadian East coast before, the most recent one being Juan in 2003 (I think it was 2003 anyway). Hypothetically, a hurricane could hit Newfoundland but most of the time a storm that takes a path like Juan will hit Newfoundland as an extratropical storm which can be just as powerful as a hurricane.

Thanks a lot Cane !!!
I found some infos on the net about that Hurricane 10 minutes ago , pretty amazing !!!
I wish I could see an hurricane from the inside , pathetic you might think , and I agree , but there's a part of me I can't deny and this part really want to see/live that.
But I wonder how Montreal survived to that since Montreal is a very small island.
I also wonder how Montreal will react facing an Hurricane these days.

Last question on the subject: If an hurricane was to hit Montreal is it possible thats hurricane will be a category 3 ,4 or 5 WHEN HITTING MONTREAL ?

You don't have to worry about that at all. A hurricane that strong could never make it up to Montreal.
