Site move Issues
      #90534 - Sat Jul 09 2011 06:41 PM

This is the topic created to report or discuss any potential site move issues that may be around. I expect a few problems, but we'll be working to fix them fairly quickly.

The redirect line:
"Flhurricane.com has been moved, it should show the new site soon, but you can click this link to get to it sooner." does not bring up the new site link after waiting awhile. The click 'this link' does work. The 'Your Settings' link does not work - it gives you a 'Server Cannot be Found' message. When you attempt to return via the 'Back' arrow, it again states that 'Server Cannot be Found'. I'll keep adding to this post if I see any other anomalies.

Until Mike has a chance to investigate this glitch, here is a helpful hint:

When you get a return that takes you out of the site and you get an error mesage, check the url. As an example, when you hit the 'Your Settings' button and you get an error message, the url at the top probably looks like this:

https://flhurricane.com/cyclone/myhome.php?Cat=0

Add the word 'new.' into the url so that it looks like this:

https://new.flhurricane.com/cyclone/myhome.php?Cat=0

When you hit 'Enter' the correct page should be displayed. Almost every error message associated with a web page redirect can be resolved with this approach. Its a bit cumbersome but hopefully it will soon be corrected.

As Mike noted, if you see anything else that seems odd or not working properly, let him know.
Thanks,
ED

Just about everything should now be working correctly but if you spot a glitch please let Mike know.

Text on the Main Page is not wrapping properly in the Latest Meteorologist Blog section (it's running underneath the Recent News column on the right) even if I resize my browser window to full screen width. Seems to be OK in other sections/pages. Firefox 5.0, Mac OS X 10.6.8.

Corrected! Thanks! BTW: Site looks very nice.

Time stamps are off a few minutes. Showing the pre-edited post as occurring at 8:53 PM when it was actually 8:47 PM.

Also, getting this on the page after a post is posted:

Warning: Unknown: 3 result set(s) not freed. Use mysql_free_result to free result sets which were requested using mysql_query() in Unknown on line 0

I have to click on the "return to forum" link rather than getting the automatic redirect.

I too had the same problem tonight. It shouldn't be too long before all of the hiccups are taken care of.

Hey guys,

Not sure that this is the right place to post this, but I just wanted to tell you that I really like the "hype scale" and the one sentence summary of the situation on the top left of the page.

These are a great way to get a 2 secs quick check on the situation.

Many, many thanks!!

I did a cleanup pass last night so a lot of these should be fixed now.

Hypescale is something new we're trying out, I'm actually working on a lot of automated bits. it's logarithmic too. I'm coming up with ways to score different elements of hype to tweak it better and at some point the data will be referable to find out what drove it up (or down).

There is an issue with popup advisories with Storm Statements, a fix is in the works, but you may see partial storm updates on the main page. The links in the Storm Data page are correct, however.

Perhaps it s my system, but consistent with some others I am having delays in having a return to forum after posting.

- fixed the news archives so you can see the old articles from 1996-2002 again.
- Also fixed "Text WXData" link on left.

There still exists a lag when adding new posts, found and fixed one cause of it, but there is another that is still being worked on.
