Starting to get crazy. Filling up gas cans tonight saw 75% of the folks at the station were doing the same. GFDL showing 921 MB low just offshore of West Palm Beach on Friday doesn't help.
We keep our Live Streaming Web Cam up at all times, so you can always see what is happening on Clearwater Beach.
We don't expect Hurricane conditions right now on the West Coast of Florida, but very well could see some Tropical Storm conditions as any outer bands reach us, if they do. Either way our forecast is calling for a couple windy days and rough surf. We also get big "roller" waves in the Gulf of Mexico anytime there is a storm on the East Coast in the Atlantic.
A slight concern for us is the threat of winds from the North. With Hurricane Hermine the winds were from the South and East and a lot of trees and branches came down. With a North wind, it may bring down anything that was weakened by Hermine.

Some wind and rain here in New Smyrna Beach, and that has a lot of people already scrambling for food and gas. I have not seen people so worried since Charley. I sure hope that Matthew tracks a little more east, because if it gets any closer to us people will start freaking out.

Long time lurker; first time poster. First great web page, very informative I appreciate all the Mets. I am in Delray Beach, FL
I got gas and batteries yesterday (no lines). Woman at Walgreens thought I was crazy for getting batteries and new flash lights. Drove home from work today, almost all gas stations were out of gas. My office has 5 gallon water bottles so I "Borrowed" one to supplement our supply.
Luckily my house has impact glass and I have a natural gas generator, so all we really have to do is bring outdoor items indoors or move them closer to the house so they are out of the wind. Because of all the recent rain, I will have to lower the pool tomorrow as well.
I'm one of those people who keep the house in shape year round, so when these things happen, I can be ready (I hope).
Mandatory Evacuations/School and Government Offices to Close for Hurricane Matthew
BREVARD COUNTY, FL. -- Mandatory evacuations will begin at 3 p.m. Wednesday for Brevard County residents living on the barrier islands, including Merritt Island, low-lying flood-prone area and in mobile or manufactured homes.
Shelters will also open beginning at 4 p.m. at sites yet to be confirmed. Those locations will be announced early Wednesday.
Brevard County schools, government offices and courthouse will close Thursday and Friday.
Brevard County Emergency Management also announced Tuesday these actions are being taken in response to Hurricane Matthew:
* The Brevard County Emergency Operations Center in Rockledge will be at Level 1 Full Activation beginning at 8 a.m. Wednesday. That means all essential personnel and agencies involved in response to pre-storm preparations and impacts from Hurricane Matthew will be activated and on duty.
* Eastern Florida State College also announced on Tuesday that campuses are closed Thursday through the weekend.
* Cape Canaveral Hospital has begun moving patients Tuesday to Holmes Regional and Viera Hospital. Gates to Cape Canaveral Hospital will be closed at 9 a.m. Wednesday to new patients. Surgeries for later in the week will be rescheduled. Health Centers are closed Wednesday through the week. To find the location of a patient, call 321-434-7000.

Well we`re closing up the Crowne Plaza here in Indiatlantic by 3pm today. All staff and guest should be else where by 4-5 PM. I`ll try and get here Friday after it calms down. I live 2 blocks off the ocean, I`m not looking forward to tomorrow night. Good luck everybody.
Home depot in Vero Beach is out of plywood as of last night @6pm. Might get more today. Water is getting thin, but still can be found. I still cannot believe some people are doubting the strength of this storm. I had an person call me this morning to get on our schedule to check his irrigation on Friday! I told him we would not be open on Friday, to which his response was Ill just call another company that needs the work! I politely asked him about the storm. He said this is a joke to take our minds off the election.......... I explained to him " Sir I would highly recommend that you look at the NHC website or Flhurricane.com" to which I got a F you ***click***
People like that drive me crazy. After the storm, they're usually the ones who complain that they "were not warned properly" and blame everyone else but themselves for any damage that may occur to their homes, etc.
Polk, Highlands and Sumter Counties are now under a TS Watch.

9am weather: mostly sunny (a few low non-developed cumulus), wind NE 5 mph
Rainfall since midnight: trace
Surf conditions: breaking waves 2-3 feet and choppy with a slight southward current
Tide: incoming, high 11:28 am Sunglow Pier Beach Cam
Volusia County Beach Safety closed vehicle access to the beach and pulled infrastructure (lifeguard towers, beach traffic signs, trash cans) off the beach and stored them on the vehicle ramp. I hope they remove this potential debris (and portable toilet on skids) from the ramp today or tomorrow because it could be blown/washed into our neighborhood by wind and storm surge Friday.
FPL contractors continue to work on securing power line equipment and other items (signs) stored along Cardinal Blvd. on the Ponce peninsula that remain from the ongoing months-long infrastructure "hardening" project.
Evacuation of coastal areas announced in the next county south of us. A few residents in my neighborhood have or are shuttering windows and securing outdoor items. There are still tourists and inquisitive inland residents driving around. Many people are still flocking to area stores to purchase hard to find last-minute items. I have not heard of gasoline shortages yet, but bottled water and batteries are becoming scarce.
Latest NHC forecast is for Matthew to pass within 50 miles of my location sometime Friday as a strong Category 3 (or possibly 4) major hurricane. I will try to post weather conditions and other observations from my location in Daytona Beach Shores (one block inland from Atlantic) every 3 hours on the hour until communications go down. I hope everyone has a hurricane plan in action. Please stay calm and safe!
I am located in NE Putnam County on the St. Johns River. The river tides are elevated, estimating 18" to 2' above normal and near peak for the time I have lived here (8 years). Today has been frequent rain. As noted in the NWS local statements for our area, the St. Johns is backing up. Just what is needed before a something tropical comes by.
I do not have a weather station, so all observations will be estimates:
Rain: 1" with moderate rain (I do have a gage)
Wind at the river: ~10 MPH with higher gusts.
Waves: 1-2
I will check the channel markers at high tide to see how high we are running on the next one.
Our office is in Boca Raton, which from the track keeps the core of the storm 70 miles away from us (fingers crossed). Obviously, I had to close the office Thursday & Friday because of the storm. Those who need more prep time could leave early today.
