1/10/2022 FL-VL-42 Daytona Beach Shores 1.8 SSE 1.47 5AM: 74F, CLOUDY WITH MODERATE RAINFALL IN SQUALLS, WIND ENE 35-40 MPH / GUST 55-60 MPH. RAIN TOTAL SURPRISINGLY LOW (CONSIDERING RELATIVES 14 MILES INLAND (WEST OF I-95) MEASURED NEARLY 4") HAD TO BRING THE RAIN GAUGE INTO THE GARAGE TO EMPTY SPILL-OVER CYLINDER FOR ACCURATE MEASUREMENT. HIGH TIDE YESTERDAY EVENING CONSIDERABLY DAMAGED VOLUSIA'S BEACH INFRASTRUCTURE GIVEN THE PREVIOUS DAMAGE FROM IAN (LATE SEPT), THE HIGH LUNAR TIDE CYCLE AND THE SURF RUN-UP FROM SEVERAL DAYS OF RELENTLESS ONSHORE FETCH OFF THE ATLANTIC OCEAN. THE BATHROOM AT THE DUNLAWTON AVE APPROACH DESTROYED. THIS MORNING'S HIGH TIDE WILL INFLICT MORE DAMAGE AS THE ONSHORE FLOW FROM THE NE/E IS STILL IN EXCESS OF TROPICAL STORM FORCE.
