...THE FIRST TROPICAL DEPRESSION OF THE ATLANTIC SEASON FORMS
OFF THE SOUTHEAST COAST OF NORTH CAROLINA...

AT 5 PM EDT...2100Z...THE CENTER OF TROPICAL DEPRESSION ONE
WAS LOCATED NEAR LATITUDE 34.7 NORTH...LONGITUDE 75.8 WEST
OR ABOUT 45 MILES SOUTH-SOUTHWEST OF CAPE HATTERAS NORTH CAROLINA.

THE DEPRESSION IS MOVING TOWARD THE EAST-NORTHEAST NEAR 20 MPH
...32 KM/HR...AND THIS GENERAL MOTION IS EXPECTED TO CONTINUE FOR
THE NEXT 24 HOURS. ON THIS TRACK...THE CENTER OF THE DEPRESSION AND
THE STRONGEST WINDS ARE EXPECTED TO REMAIN OFFSHORE THE NORTH
CAROLINA COAST AND PRIMARILY BE A THREAT TO MARINE INTERESTS.

MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS ARE NEAR 35 MPH... 55 KM/HR...WITH HIGHER
GUSTS...MAINLY WELL TO THE SOUTHEAST OF THE CENTER. SOME
STRENGTHENING IS FORECAST DURING THE NEXT 24 HOURS AND THIS SYSTEM
COULD BECOME A TROPICAL STORM LATER TONIGHT OR MONDAY.

THE ESTIMATED MINIMUM CENTRAL PRESSURE IS 1009 MB...29.80 INCHES.

REPEATING THE 5 PM EDT POSITION...34.7 N... 75.8 W. MOVEMENT
TOWARD...EAST-NORTHEAST NEAR 20 MPH. MAXIMUM SUSTAINED
WINDS... 35 MPH. MINIMUM CENTRAL PRESSURE...1009 MB.

AT 11 PM EDT.
