Talked to a friend in the Venice/Englewood area just north of Port Charlotte. Took his parents to a shelter, but they're back home now. Very little damage. Didn't see any trees down. Some string that he had left in their patio after tying stuff down was still in the same place. Electricty okay. Didn't note any storm surge. Pretty darn lucky! And I'm quite relieved that there will be limited impact (hopefully) in Gainesville, as there are alot of trees around my house that cause me concern.... Sue McG
