Bahama Damage Reports as of 12:00 p.m. EST 09/03/2004

In general rainfall amounts have not been high.
Winds and pounding surf damage are the most common
problems. Severe Beach erosion reported from most
areas near the eye.

Two deaths reported so far. 18 y/o male resident of
Colony Village on Nassau electrocuted by downed power
line. Cause of death of other victim is unknown.

Acklins -
Extensive damage. North is worst,
Ramp used by mailboats is severely damaged.

Club Rolex gone.

Long Island - Extensive damage. Roof blown off the
high school. Major tree damage.

Governor's Harbour -
High wind damage
Lot of Debris

Eleuthera
Some structural damage to homes.
Pre-School lost its roof.
Waves have overcome the seawall
Spanish Wells - Major tree damage, light roof damage.

Moore's Island
90-100 mph sustained winds at 11:20 a.m. Some wind
damage, not severe.

Harbour Island -
Beach fared well. Bayside, water up to top of the
wall and waves going into street. Some roof damage,
many trees down.

General consensus is that the storm has not been as bad as Andrew, but is closer to the experience with Floyd. Damage in general not as catastrophic as it could have been.
