Quote: Hello-- Does anyone have any thoughts about Jeanne's intensity once it reaches the Jacksonville area? Wondering if it's going to be worse than Frances here and what precautions we might need to take. I live about a block from the St. Johns river.
I found this under GA's information from 11PM, which addressed both GA and FL conditons. Hope it helps.
...STORM SURGE FLOOD AND STORM TIDE IMPACTS... AT THIS TIME...SIGNIFICANT TIDAL FLOODING IS NOT EXPECTED THROUGH SATURDAY. BY SATURDAY NIGHT...TIDES OF 2 TO 3 FEET ABOVE THE HEIGHT OF NORMAL TIDES WILL BE POSSIBLE WITH VALUES OF 3 TO 5 FEET ABOVE NORMAL POSSIBLE ON SUNDAY. IT SHOULD BE NOTED THAT DUE TO PERSISTENT ONSHORE WINDS...TIDE LEVELS ON THE ST. JOHNS RIVER ARE ALREADY ABOVE NORMAL. COMBINED WITH ALREADY HIGH ASTRONOMICAL TIDES...IF THE CURRENT FORECAST TRACK MATERIALIZES...SIGNIFICANT FLOODING MAY OCCUR ALONG THE ST. JOHNS RIVER.
