Quote: I truly have to ask this question. Is Emily being named early because it would make a historical moment or is she really meeting the requirements for a named storm? I have seen so many awsome storms be ignored because they were not significant to shipping, or landmasses. (I understand the finances) but we have a new generation of people who are addicted to sensationalism. I am asking these questions to separate the hooplah from the science.
Hmmm, since "Emily" means "eager", maybe she is eager to make a name for herself.
But then: The noun eager has one meaning:
Meaning #1: a high wave (often dangerous) caused by tidal flow (as by colliding tidal currents or in a narrow estuary)
The adjective eager has 2 meanings:
Meaning #1: having or showing keen interest or intense desire or impatient expectancy
Meaning #2: marked by active interest and enthusiasm
