Wind has increased significatly and also shifted direction here in NW Broward - it was almost due N, but now seems to be more NE. The center of the storm has shifted south on the radar and this accounts for shift in winds as well. The backside of the storm looks very nasty and this shift means the eye itself should miss my location and come ashore in Hollywood, FL. However that also means the worst part of the storm (NE quad) will come much closer to me.
My wife just got home from work and said the wind nearly blew her car off the road. She also reports several smaller palm trees are down already. Power has flickered once so far.
