How Far Inland?

Is there a basic formular for how fast a major hurricane starts to disapate once it makes land fall. For instance if a powerfull 150 mile an hour storm hits and your directly in it's travel path how far does it have to travel inland to go down to say 40 to miles per hour instead of 150 MPH,

If your 100 to 200 miles in land how strong should it be when it hits you.

Same question for 200 to 400 miles inland. I'm trying to find out how far inland I would have to live to be pretty much Hurricane free.
