TS Andrea intensified earlier this morning and now has 60mph winds with higher gusts - the higher gusts primarily in the main feeder band. At 06/16Z Andrea was located in the Gulf of Mexico about 100 miles west northwest of Tampa, Florida, moving to the northeast at 15mph. Central pressure has dropped to 997MB. With more of a turn to the northeast than originally expected, landfall should be near Cedar Key later this afternoon with no additional increase in strength. Storm surge prior to landfall up to 5 feet on the Florida west coast north of Tampa Bay to Apalachee Bay. Andrea should be located on or near the central coast of South Carolina as a weaker tropical storm by midday on Friday.

While it remains within range, the center of Andrea can be tracked on the long range scans of Tampa NWS radar at:

Tampa Long Range Radar Loop

Rainfall amounts of 3 to 6 inches are expected over the Florida peninsula with the possibility of higher amounts in northern Florida and southeastern Georgia. Isolated tornadoes are still possible over much of the Florida peninsula through late Thursday evening.
