I have not posted in a while, but I'm in Hong Kong doing my postgrad at HKU , so I thought I should speak up.

The city has not received a major storm in some decades, and enough near misses to foster the usual sense of apathy towards tropical cyclones. In contrast to the relaxed attitudes of the public, newspapers are dramatic.
The headline in the photo I uploaded literally means "the strongest typhoon on earth closes in on the harbor city!

I live on the western side of the island (pokfulam), just a short hike down to the harbor, but im situated up on a mountain face (you can walk to victoria peak from the uni) so im not worried about any surge.

I'll update with pictures and videos as time goes on.

cheers
