This time last year, Hurricane Alex was starting to be formed near the Azore's however no such January activity this go around.
The Atlantic Hurricane Season starts on June 1st and lasts until November 30th. Last year we had Hermine the first hurricane to make landfall in Florida in 11 years, and Matthew which caused major issues for Haiti, Cuba, the Bahamas, Florida and the Southeastern US, along with a few other storms. More to come later in the year! Happy New Year.
We'll keep an eye on the Atlantic Basin during the long quiet time of Winter and Spring just in case out-of-season activity pops up.
