A convectively active tropical wave/broad low pressure system we have been tracking in near and over the Yucatan has become better defined this morning, and a tropical cyclone may be forming. Conditions continue to appear favorable for development and we are now starting a lounge on this system that is already very close to land.

NHC presently has a 40% odds of 99L becoming a numbered tropical cyclone within 48 hours, and this could be conservative.
