Above: Tropical Storm Bret approaching the Lesser Antilles (L) and Invest 93L coming up behind (R)

An Invest behind Bret we have been tracking for several days, 93L, is now on the cusp of becoming a tropical cyclone itself, and we are starting a lounge on this system despite low model odds of land interaction.

Invest 93L appears set to become the second Cabo Verde system of June, 2023. While Bret and likely future FOUR/Cindy do not seem poised to rise to the level of infamous August and September Cape/Cabo Verde Hurricanes as it is still June after all, the mere formation of two Main Development Region tropical storms in the month of June would be a first for the entirety of records we have on Atlantic basin tropical cyclones.
