Area of Interest - Invest 92L

Invest 92L, about 1,000 miles southwest of the Cape Verde Islands, was relocated to 8.0N 36.5W at 13/21Z. System is moving to the northwest (approximately 300 degrees) at 15 knots with winds of 25-30 knots and a central pressure of 1010mb. System should continue to move generally to the west northwest to northwest for the next few days under the influence of a strong Atlantic ridge to the north of the system. SST is about 29C and wind shear is currently quite light, however, the system will encounter strong westerly shear in a couple of days. Additional development seems likely, however, development should be slow given the large size of the circulation envelope and the current lack of any organized dense convection over the center of circulation. While the system passes through the higher windshear zone, development should be curtailed and the intensity of the system should decrease - and perhaps dissipate. The large circulation itself gives 92L a small chance for survival after exiting the shear zone. Certainly something interesting to watch and keep an eye on as the 2010 season gets underway.
