Yes, I remember there being a lot of dust in 2005. While there were a ton of storms that season, there was only weak activity out in the main development region between the islands and Africa. Most storms did not get going until waves moved closer to home (Katrina/Rita in the Bahamas, e.g.). There was also plenty of action farther north in the Atlantic.
