.DISCUSSION...
Issued at 1145 PM CDT Mon Apr 6 2026
If you enjoyed Monday`s weather then you are certain to love the
weather for Tuesday. We start the day with a chill in the air.
Much of our northern tier, as well as some rural cold spots in
our southern zones, are expected to start the day in the 40s.
Meanwhile, morning lows in the city and near the coast are
expected to be in the 50s (60s at the beaches). By afternoon,
expect temperatures in the 70s with continued low humidity. Get
outside and enjoy it! The recent northeast flow will veer
easterly today. But by Wednesday, we will find ourselves in a
southeasterly wind regime, bringing warm and more humid air into
our region from the Gulf. Temperatures should be near 80 with dew
points approaching 60. Pretty nice for SE Texas but definitely a
sign of an air mass change. Also couldn`t rule out a few showers
on Wednesday as well.
Persistent, deep, moisture rich SE flow will send PWATs into the
1.0 - 1.5 inch range Thursday into the weekend while a series of
vort maxes embedded in the S to SW flow aloft push over our area.
This should allow for some enhanced shower/thunderstorm chances as
we approach week`s end. Given the moisture profile, we couldn`t
rule out heavier shower and thunderstorm activity, particularly
late Friday into Saturday. This will be something to watch as the
week progresses. Regarding temperatures, expect increasingly warm
and humid conditions, with highs generally in the low 80s during
the second half of the week.

.MARINE...
Issued at 1145 PM CDT Mon Apr 6 2026
An easterly 10-15 knot (occasionally higher) wind will veer
southeast by Wednesday. By Thursday and Friday, a fairly large
15-20 knot east to southeast fetch is expected to materialize over
the Gulf, likely enhancing waves and swell as we approach the end
of the week. Winds may increase further by the weekend. Some of
our wave models suggest seas could reach 7-8 feet offshore. In
addition increasing winds and waves, shower and thunderstorm
chances will be increasing during the the second half of the week
as well.
